DECEMBER: ST.JAMES GIRLS CYO VOLLEYBALL TRYOUTS:

St. James is proud to enter our 2nd season for girls travel volleyball.  This 2011-12 season we hope to host four teams: 6th, 7th, 8th, TYRO (9th/10th).   This 12 game season runs Feb. through April; cost is $200 per player; COACHES NEEDED! 

TRYOUTS will be held:

-   OPEN TRYOUT GRADES 6-10th:  Thursday December 29th 10:00-11:30

-   6th & 7th Grade: Tuesday January 3rd 5:00-6:00

-   8th & 9th/10th “TYRO”:  Thursday January 5th 5:00-6:00

FEBRUARY: CYO BOYS IN-HOUSE VOLLEYBALL PROGRAM

On Sunday January 8th, 2:00 pm, Stony Brook will play Albany at Pritchard Gymnasium on the campus of Stony Brook University.  A portion of all tickets purchased for this game through Nassakeag or St. James CYO will benefit Sharon Lotter and her family.

Tickets are $10 each, and 60% of the ticket price will go directly to the Lotter family. Checks should be made out to “cash.”

Ann Copelli will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for the Marines Toys for Tots foundation from

Friday, Nov. 25 through Thursday Dec. 8, 2011.

These toys will all stay in Suffolk County.

Please check out their website if you are unfamiliar with their program.

The gift ages are from tiny tots to 16 year olds.. The older group is the hardest to buy for…think grooming, electronics, a boxed scarf and glove set etc.

If you need me to be home for the drop off feel free to call me between 7am and 8pm otherwise please leave gifts on the covered porch.

The S-Section Board of Directors

On behalf of the current S-Section board members—Jenn, Christine and Scott—I would like to provide the following update.

GENERAL MEETING

• We are scheduling our Spring General Meeting for mid-May.  Once we receive confirmation of the date (from the Nicolls Rd. Fire Station) I will forward the exact date and time.
• Board positions are open for President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer; and elections will be held at the General Meeting.  If you are interested in running for any of the positions, please send an e-mail to: friends@sycamorecircle.org. by April 30.

YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD NEEDS YOU!

The S-Section Circle of Friends has, for many years, been involved in keeping our neighborhood beautiful, maintaining our property values, and sponsoring events that keep residents connected and informed.  Board members and interested residents have handled many of the activities that help our neighborhood stay as desirable as it currently is.  However, in order for us to be as effective as possible, more residents need to lend a hand. Below are some of the ways you can do that. Note that lack of volunteers has caused the loss of the Mommy and Me and other programs. • Organize Mommy and Me play dates in the Sycamore Circle Park.
• Organize the annual Kindergarten Get-Together, also in the park.
• Coordinate the annual S-Section Membership Drive.
• Act as principle contact to the Parks Dept. (to coordinate cleanups, plantings, needed equipment and repairs, etc.).
• Coordinate landscaping for the front entrance.  **If anyone knows of a good landscaping company, PLEASE send an e-mail to friends@sycamorecircle.org.
• Act as liaison to the neighborhood police precinct and COPE office.

COMMUNICATION
